Detail
Marc Chagall, one of the most outstanding painters of the 20th century, started his career as print artist at age 35 and created more than 2,000 print works throughout his life.
Most of them are serial illustrations for books which are so-called “livres d´artiste”.These prints, Chagall's co-creation with the superior printmakers at the time, are now acclaimed as the greatest in print art history.
This exhibition showcases Chagall’s 150 pieces from the series of prints illustrating literary works, My Life, the Bible, Daphnis and Chloe, and Odyssey, along with the synopses of these four books. All the exhibits are the collection of Ustunomiya Museum of Art.
