American Photorealism
- Date:
- Apr.04,2004(Sun) - May.16,2004(Sun)
Detail
The photorealism, which depicts our everyday life such as street corners, signboards and cars with photographic accuracy, emerged as a unique style of painting in the United States in the late 1960s. It soon became quite popular not only for its concrete and easy subjects but also for its minute technique. We can also say that it surely took over the tradition of American realist painting. The exhibition reviews the development of the American photorealism, with 67 works by such important painters as John Baeder, Robert Cottingham, Richard Estes, Ralph Goings and Charles Bell.
