Detail
On hearing the news of the 3.11 disaster in 2011, Joe and Etsuko Price, world-renowned collectors of Japanese Edo period art, decided to bring their precious collection to the disaster-affected areas, Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima, willing to support Japanese people by showing them “the things which are beautiful, filled with a strong life force and worthy of pride”. This exhibition showcases 100 paintings of Edo period from the Price Collection including “Birds, Animals, and Flowering Plants in Imaginary Scene”,one of the major works by Ito Jakuchu. There we offer new viewpoints of the works aiming to share the joy of Edo culture with children. On this occasion old masterpieces from the Japanese museums' collections are also exhibited.
